A way to get up to practice up on your tasting is to "calibrate" yourself with commercial beers.  Zymurgy has a column where 4 highly ranked BJCP judges evaluate commercially available beers under BJCP guidelines.  Reading and drinking along with these reviews can help you understand what you are tasting and also help calibrate your scoring (there are, of course, variations on the particular beers that you and they have in hand). 

You need two things: the Zymurgy articles in question and the beers.  To help with the first half of this, we've listed out the beers which were reviewed and which edition they were published in.
